It’s the deep breath before plunge.

Well, here we are. I gotta say the Iowa poll is encouraging. It aligns with my reasoning that the national polls should also have a larger margin for Harris. I can’t imagine a scenario where she doesn’t win the popular vote by at least 3 million. I could be wrong, but it’s hard for me to believe that millions of Democratic votes evaporated in 4 years. So yes, as the Harris campaign says, I’m nauseously optimistic.

But there’s one prediction I’m willing to make, along with a last-minute plea to do whatever you can to convince your friends to just vote for Harris, and quit talking about swapping votes or third party or whatever. Or if you know any Trump voters, or you are one — there’s a few of you still looking at my stuff — and they have any doubt about him but can’t vote for Harris for whatever reason, tell them they don’t have to vote. It’s okay, just sit this one out.

Look, I get it, the Democratic party is by far the worst political party of all time, except for the other major party in our midst. So here’s my prediction, it’s pretty obvious and you already know it’s gonna happen, at some point on Tuesday night Trump is going to declare victory, regardless of the vote tally. Most likely we won’t have definitive results until Saturday or Sunday — unless surprises like Iowa happen. Most states will be called within 24 hours but Pennsylvania and Arizona could take days. And there is already an army of republican operators — in local election positions, in media, in the Senate and the House and the Trump campaign of course, plus rogue groups like the proud boys and other agitators — who are going to try to create as much chaos as possible.

If we let them succeed in sowing doubt then the next three months are going to suck. Sorry folks, the Republicans are going to destroy Christmas yet again, something they vowed to save by the way, but as you know you can’t trust them.

This is why I’ve been imploring anyone considering voting for Trump to just let this election go. I don’t mean the ones who are too far down the rabbit hole, I mean the ones who are just having trouble voting for a Democrat and yet know that Trump is just too crazy. They should listen to that impulse. After tomorrow it will be too late to take back your vote and a vote for Trump is a vote for chaos.

Anyone who doesn’t see what’s about to happen hasn’t been listening to Trump and his surrogates. And if they’re willing to do what they are already saying they will do to take power in this election cycle, well just ask yourself, what will they do in the next election? After 4 years of consolidating power? I’m amazed that there are people who still don’t believe we can fall into autocracy, even when it’s staring us in the face.

John Kennedy famously said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” I’ll admit that it took me a while to understand that quote. After all, I was raised in the Reagan era. But I see very clearly what he meant now. Sometimes you have to vote for the public good, not just what you think will be better for your small part of this whole endeavor. Especially when ideas like Trump will be better for the economy or defense or the border are so easily debunked. But yet it’s clear that Trump is a threat to the public good. He’s an immediate and direct threat to women’s rights especially. For that reason alone every man in this country should vote for the women in their lives. Not to mention their queer family members or immigrant neighbors.

Tomorrow night Trump will sow chaos and seek to divide us and make us believe that he won this election, whether he did or not. On the flip side If he does actually win (Oh My God, like I said I’m nauseously optimistic) Harris has vowed to concede, something Trump has refused to do. He keeps talking about only conceding if the election wasn’t rigged and that’s just a setup, anyone can see that. There is only one chaos agent in this election and it’s Trump. I’m serious when I say that a vote for Trump, or a third party for that matter, is a vote for chaos.

Half of all voters have already voted, so there’s still time. Don’t vote for chaos, and don’t let anyone you know vote for chaos, the larger the margin Trump loses by the better our odds will be in fighting the misinformation and bullshit they’re about to unleash on us.
